Notwithstanding the pull of Yang Yang, and the bandwagon appeal of this drama, this is a solid drama about friendship, family, life, and love. “Love O2O has the perfect combination of cute romance, attractive leads, college student vibes, fantasy gaming, all wrapped in one enjoyable package.” The college romance is based on writer Gu Man’s popular novel known as “Wei Wei’s Beautiful Smile” and “Just One Smile is Very Alluring.” Now, Xiao Nai must use his skills both in real life and online to capture Wei Wei’s heart. But it’s not Wei Wei’s looks that he notices it’s the ridiculous mastery with which she is commanding her guild and owning everyone in an online multiplayer game that makes her impossible to forget. When he first comes across the gorgeous computer science major Bei Wei Wei, the infinitely talented wunderkind immediately falls in love. Xiao Nai is a gaming expert who, courtesy of his basketball skills, academic excellence, swimming talent and game company presidency, also happens to be the most popular student on campus. Genres: Comedy, Romance, Drama, College Life Interested in my review for the drama: click here.“For others, there might be books, movies and other forms of media to appreciate culture and storytelling, but the same can also be said for games.” Overall, the film was alright, but the show is so much better. Lastly, the ending credits scene at the end of the movie was seriously out of place. Honestly, who can compete with Yang Yang? However, everything else about the show was better. The dorm rooms and the internet café weren’t as pretty as they were on the show which seems to fit more of the college student ambiance. Plus, I liked how the settings were a little bit more nitty-gritty. What I appreciated from the movie more was that Wei Wei is tougher in it. The movie lost that along with those college first love feels. Something else I thought the show did better was the important school campus vibe. The way CAO Guang suddenly flipped his tune and romantically confessed to Wei Wei immediately after getting burned by her during their first meeting was the most ridiculous plotline ever. Let’s talk about changes that actually bugged me. Plus, Mengran is supposedly the prettiest girl at school, so why couldn’t they cast an actress who would be able to pull off that title? Even Wei Wei’s friends/roommates in the TV show looked better than their movie counterparts. Production could’ve taken the liberty and gotten rid of her like how Zhen Shui and CAO Guang were combined which was a good decision. Also, Mengran was not needed in this movie her two scenes were a waste of time. I was upset that the strong bonds between XIAO Nai and his roommates/work partners did not come through in the film. A big part of it is because the show had more time to let the characters grow, friendships, foster, and relationships develop. Personally, I thought the show was way better. However, it didn’t take away from the storytelling experience. The special effects were fun though there were some random ones I didn’t understand. The main actor, JING Boran, did an excellent job as XIAO Nai. The plot had a good flow, and the main relationship developed well. I was a fan of Angelababy when she was originally a model in Hong Kong, but since then, her acting hasn’t done much for me.Īnyways, the movie was decent, and I enjoyed it enough. I knew that there is also a movie edition starring Angelababy and JING Boran and was interested in comparing the two. Last year, I watched the Chinese drama, “Love 020”, and loved it to bits and pieces. ~ Warning! Spoilers! Chinese Movie Review: “Love 020” (微微一笑很傾城) ~
